Suzette Fountain

Areas of Expertise:
  • Trauma Sensitive Schools Awareness Trainer
  • Trauma informed lens and core trauma sensitive values of safety, trust, choice, collaboration and empowerment
  • Collaborative planning and family programming.

I have worked in school districts for the past 25 years as a School Social Worker, Counselor, AODA coordinator, Love and Logic Trained Facilitator, and Trauma Sensitive Schools Internal Coach. For the past four years, I have had the opportunity to function as my district’s internal coach for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s Mental Health Trauma Sensitive Schools Project. Participating in this project, has been an incredible experience that has changed my worldview on how we provide a trauma sensitive foundation for all students helping them overcome barriers to learning by promoting resiliency, and growth mindsets. I have worked with staff to plan and implement family programming based on data. These programs for all students and families provide services at each level of the multi-level system of support that cultivate the core trauma sensitive values of safety, trust, choice, collaboration and empowerment. I am passionate about this work and have made it my mission to help promote the use of a trauma-informed lens for social and emotional learning, self-regulation, conflict resolution skills, and building connections between staff and students.
