For as long as I can remember my passion has been to work with and for students to increase their learning and success in the school environment. I have been involved at all levels and in all areas of the educational system including teaching general and special education, evaluation and diagnostics for special education placement, consultation and district level special education and student support administration. I was involved in the development and initial implementation of Kenosha School District’s universal trauma sensitive school professional development. As a member of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s Trauma Sensitive Schools Work Group I participated in the development of their multi-tiered model of trauma sensitive schools. For the past four years, I have been a part of a growing team of educators in the development of Wisconsin’s Trauma Sensitive Schools Professional Learning System. I am a co-author of Wisconsin Trauma Sensitive Schools Learning Modules and companion coaching curriculum as well as the Trauma Awareness presentation created to meet the requirement of the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s $100,000,000 grant for schools. As a consultant for the National Council on Behavioral Health’s Trauma Sensitive Schools’ initiative, I work with school teams across the country to align their programs and practices with Trauma Sensitive School values. I look forward to working with schools and districts seeking to provide a safe and compassion environment and meet all students’ needs.
